Size and date of Grant:
Sport Haslemere awarded Grayswood Cricket Club a grant of £1,107 in December 2015, and a grant of £750 in December 2016.
Purpose of Grant:
To help with improvements of the Clubs nets facilities, and the purchase of a mobile cricket cage.
How was it used:
The 2015 grant was used to help pay for essential works to extend the run up areas at the club’s net facilities on Grayswood village green.
The 2016 grant will be used towards the cost of purchasing a mobile cricket cage to enhance the cricket facilities available to Club members.
Impact on the Club:
As part of the Club’s ongoing efforts to increase the number of members and the wider community’s participation in cricket, Grayswood CC has been extending its formal coaching sessions to a wider range of age groups, and increased the number of senior teams who represent the club. This has resulted in increased demand for the use of the cricket square and net area during club training sessions.
The grant helped to extend the run ups at the Club’s net area and provide a safer environment for players. The acquisition of a mobile cricket cage will help provide a more efficient training set up for the club and provide a safe environment for the children to train. Being able to utilise the square as a cricketing surface will enhance the quality of the training provided. Senior players would also greatly benefit from the improved facilities a mobile cage would offer and help promote cricket in the senior age groups.
How has the grant helped to market the Club in the local area:
The Club is always looking for new members across the senior and junior sections. We recognise the need to encourage participation as early as possible and are working closely with local schools and cricket authorities to promote participation in the game. The grant has enabled the Club to enhance its offering to the community whilst maintaining a safe environment for all to participate.
